HISTORY

High schooler Bliss “Torchy” Torchiana is an art-and-engineering prodigy with a passion for sculpting. Shy but razor-witted, she unveils her latest project at the city science fair, a molecular metalizer designed to coat objects in a thin layer of copper using microcurrents.
But when a jealous rival, Susie Sumner, sabotages her machine, a sudden power surge blasts Torchy with a copper-based nano-alloy. Instead of coating an object, the alloy fuses with her entire body. Her skin crystallizes into living copper, metallic and gleaming, yet she can still move, speak, and feel… just differently.
Experimentation reveals astonishing abilities: superhuman strength, near-invulnerability, and the power to shrug off bullets. At first, she uses her new form for thrills and internet clout, posting daring stunt videos for her growing online following.
Right after the accident, Torchy’s skin is pure metallic copper, bright, reflective, reddish-orange. But within a month, oxygen reacts with her surface to form a dull brown oxide layer. Another month brings streaks and patches of seafoam green in the joints and creases. Eventually, her entire body takes on the weathered green patina of the Statue of Liberty, a lasting mark of her transformation.
Taking the name Liberty in honor of the iconic monument, Torchy embraces her role as a superhero. Over time, her patina deepens, and she comes to see it as a badge of honor, a sign of the battles fought and the time spent protecting her city.

POWERS & ABILITIES

Liberty’s Entire body is composed of a living copper-based alloy. This gives her the ability to lift and throw heavy vehicles, bend steel, and shatter concrete with ease. She is resistant to bullets, blades, blunt force, extreme temperatures, and many chemical agents. Liberty has limited impact absorption because her copper structure dissipates kinetic force, reducing knockback from powerful blows. She can also channel electrical currents harmlessly through her body or into the ground; with control, she may direct electricity offensively.

WEAPONS & PARAPHERNALIA

Her only weapon is her cell phone, which she uses to document her adventures as well as the adventures of her friends.
