Dave Matsuoka is a freelance comic book artist and illustrator. Born and raised in California, he lives in San Jose and earned a B.A. in graphic design and illustration from San Jose State University. After college, Dave spent 38 years with one company, eventually retiring as its marketing manager before devoting more of his time to comics and illustration.

Dave’s comics work includes projects for Antarctic Press, AC Comics, Golden Frog Press, and Black Swan Press. His association with Antarctic Press reaches back to the 1990s. For Ninja High School Swimsuit Special #4, Dave wrote, penciled, inked, colored, and lettered the four-page story “Swimsuit Phollies with Phrank.” He is also the writer and artist of Tales from Quagmire U.S.A., a three-issue miniseries later collected in a 174-page edition with more than 70 pages of bonus material. More recently, his AC Comics work has included interior art for Cauldron of Horror #1.

Dave has also illustrated Martin Powell’s Edgar Rice Burroughs-inspired Jane Porter Untamed. Away from comics, he has been involved with the Japanese American Museum of San Jose, including helping bring the museum store online.

At G-Man Comics, Dave is a cover artist. His work includes the main and variant covers for G-Men United #5, with colors by Téo Pinheiro and Danilo Leão, respectively.
