Ron Frenz is an American comic book artist and writer whose professional career began at Marvel Comics in the early 1980s. His early assignments included Ka-Zar the Savage, Star Wars, and The Further Adventures of Indiana Jones before he became the regular artist on The Amazing Spider-Man in 1984.

During his celebrated Spider-Man run, Ron penciled stories including “The Kid Who Collects Spider-Man” in The Amazing Spider-Man #248 and the first appearance of Spider-Man’s black costume in The Amazing Spider-Man #252. Working with writer Tom DeFalco, he also helped introduce characters including Puma and Silver Sable and participated in the storyline revealing that Spider-Man’s black costume was an alien life-form.

Ron later reunited with DeFalco for a lengthy run on Thor, where they introduced Eric Masterson, who eventually became Thunderstrike. His Marvel work also includes Thunderstrike, New Warriors, and the MC2 line. Ron and DeFalco co-created May “Mayday” Parker, the daughter of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson, for What If…? #105. The character went on to headline Spider-Girl for 100 issues, followed by The Amazing Spider-Girl and additional appearances.

At DC Comics, Ron became a regular artist on Superman and contributed to major stories including Superman: The Wedding Album and the Superman Red/Superman Blue era. His career has made him one of the relatively few artists to have enjoyed substantial regular runs on both The Amazing Spider-Man and Superman.

At G-Man Comics, Ron is a cover artist. He provided a cover for Taranis the Thunderlord #1, which was also presented as a virgin-cover edition in G-Men Uncovered #1. His Taranis cover has remained part of the character’s visual identity as G-Man Comics expanded into comic-shop distribution through Philbo Publishing.
