HISTORY
Ricardo Tapia was a masked luchador (masked wrestler) using the name Vencejo (Swift) with a bird-style gimmick. When his wife died in childbirth, he retired from life on the road and opened a restaurant, Ricardo’s Taqueria, where he worked and raised his daughter, Maria. At age 9, Maria was mysteriously killed in the taqueria, sending Ricardo down a dark path. He sold his restaurant and became Vencejo the vigilante full time, hunting down and attacking criminals throughout Washington, D.C.
During one mission, he discovered 9-year-old Mary Williams living in an abandoned car. Mary told him her mother had disappeared two days earlier and that she was waiting in her mother’s car. In fact, her mother had been gone for many months, and the car was not hers. Ricardo took in the young girl, getting her away from life on the streets and seeing his daughter in her. Mary is streetwise from her life on the streets and quite capable of defending herself. However, she likes to pretend to be just a cute little girl. She took the name Pollita (Little Chick) from the song El Pollito Pio (The Little Chick Says “Cheep”), which was Maria Tapia’s favorite song.
Vencejo agreed to register and join the G-Men in exchange for Peter Jameson’s help in adopting Mary.
POWERS & ABILITIES
Vencejo is a luchador who uses a variety of wrestling holds and brute physical strength to overpower his opponents in hand-to-hand combat. Pollita is a formerly homeless child who had to fight in the streets to survive.
