HISTORY

Jorge attended Columbia Heights High School and was a standout baseball player. He was offered a minor league contract straight out of high school but was cut during his first season. Returning to Columbia Heights, Jorge had no job prospects or marketable skills. He traveled through his neighborhood looking for work and chasing off the local street gang, acting as a guardian angel protecting shopkeepers he hoped might hire him out of gratitude.

Unable to find work, he began asking local shopkeepers for small donations in exchange for keeping their stores safe with his brand of vigilante justice. Some were happy to pay and grateful for the assistance, while others were not. Once he began supporting himself as a vigilante, he went from asking for donations to demanding protection money. Later, he decided it was unfair to the shopkeepers who paid for protection if those who refused to pay received the same benefits. He therefore took it upon himself to drive out the shopkeepers who would not pay, rationalizing that he was keeping everyone else safe.

Jorge felt that life had beaten him like a piñata. As Hombre Piñata, he decided he had had enough and would now be the one doing the beating. Wrapping his favorite baseball bat in barbed wire, he set out to clean up his neighborhood no matter how much it cost the local merchants.
