HISTORY

Bruce Carter III was visited by the ghost of his Great-Great- Grandfather Bruce Carter I,
a former intelligence officer for General Washington during the Revolutionary War who had been killed by the British and whose spirit was consigned to walk the Earth for his failure. The ghost directed Carter to the hidden location of a magical cloak and tricorn hat that granted the wearer superhuman abilities. Carter was inspired by the other costumed heroes appearing during this time, and adopted a costume incorporating these items, and took the name The Fighting Yank in honor of his ancestor.
As The Fighting Yank, Carter battled costumed villains and Nazi agents stateside. In late 1944, Carter encountered a criminal calling himself Doc Chrono,s who claimed to have been trapped in the past by his own technology (see Doc Chronos). When Chronos escaped back to his native time, both Fighting Yank and his sidekick, Danny the All-American Kid, were drawn into the temporal vortex with him (see All-American Kid).
Now forced to adapt to life in the early 21st century, Fighting Yank continues to fight the good fight on behalf of the nation, both individually and as a member of the First Guard (see First Guard).

POWERS

The Fighting Yank possesses enhanced physical abilities derived from mystical artifacts connected to his ancestral lineage, most notably an enchanted tricorn hat and cloak once wielded by his revolutionary-era forebear.
These mystical enhancements elevate Bruce Carter III to the absolute peak of human physical capability, granting him strength, speed, agility, stamina, reflexes, and durability comparable to the world’s greatest enhanced combatants. Under optimal conditions, the Fighting Yank is capable of lifting approximately 1,000 pounds and can perform extraordinary feats of athleticism and endurance far beyond normal human limitations.
His reflexes and reaction speed are sufficiently advanced to contend directly with superhuman opponents in close combat, while his durability allows him to withstand impacts and physical punishment that would incapacitate ordinary humans. Although not invulnerable, the Fighting Yank possesses an exceptionally high tolerance for injury and fatigue, enabling him to continue operating effectively under extreme battlefield conditions.
The Fighting Yank is also an elite hand-to-hand combatant trained extensively in military close-quarters combat, boxing, grappling, tactical firearms use, and battlefield improvisation. His fighting style emphasizes efficiency, positioning, and controlled force rather than aggression or intimidation.
In addition to his physical abilities, Bruce Carter III is recognized as one of the foremost tactical coordinators in the superhero community. His wartime experience, leadership instincts, and ability to remain composed under pressure allow him to direct both conventional forces and superhuman teams with remarkable effectiveness.
The Fighting Yank’s greatest strength, however, is psychological rather than physical. He demonstrates extraordinary emotional discipline and situational awareness, maintaining clarity and restraint even during catastrophic events. This quality allows him to stabilize conflicts that might otherwise escalate uncontrollably, particularly when operating alongside volatile or extremely powerful allies.
