Fernando Ruiz is a veteran comic book artist, writer, illustrator, and educator whose career has spanned more than three decades. A graduate of Caldwell College with a BFA in Fine Arts, Fernando went on to attend the legendary Kubert School, graduating in 1994.

Fernando is best known for his long association with Archie Comics, where his work has appeared in numerous titles, including Archie’s Weird Mysteries, Archie & Friends, The Man from R.I.V.E.R.D.A.L.E., the Eisner-nominated Life With Archie, and the award-winning Archie vs. Predator. He also drew the Archie daily newspaper strip and has contributed to projects for publishers including Dark Horse Comics, Image Comics, Chapterhouse Comics, and Dynamite Entertainment.

Beyond comics, Fernando’s extensive commercial illustration career has included book illustration, toy design, storyboards, and advertising work. He is also the co-creator, with Dan Parent, of Die Kitty Die and the creator of The Iron Ghost, featured in his independent anthology EPICS.

In 1995, Fernando returned to the Kubert School as an instructor, helping train generations of professional artists. He received the school’s Outstanding Instructor Award in 2016 and currently serves as the Kubert School’s Academic Supervisor.
