One of the first generation to travel to the realm of Otherworld, the god known as The Dagda is beloved by his fellow gods.
Earning the nickname “The All-Father” due to his love of the children of Avalorr, and his protective nature toward all his fellows, The Dagda has even briefly served as King of Avalorr for a period when Nuada was forced to step down after losing his hand in battle. Once Nuada had his hand replaced, The Dagda stepped down and returned the crown to him (see Nuada Silverhand).
During the Middle Ages after the fall of Rome, and at Nuada’s command, The Dagda is responsible for using his great magic to seal off Avalorr from the rest of Otherworld. So potent were his spells, that to this day travel between Avalorr and the other realms remains difficult and fraught with peril.

POWERS

The Dagda possesses the normal superhuman physical attributes of a Celtic god, though with far greater strength than normal. His strength is second only to Taranis and Ogma among his race, and his durability is far greater than normal as well. It has been said that he can strike dead nine men at once with a single blow of his war club, lorg mór (“the great staff/club/mace”). He could also resurrect the dead using the other end of the same club.

The Dagda also possesses a magic cauldron known as the coire ansic (’the un-dry cauldron”) that was said to be bottomless and would leave no man’s appetite unsatisfied.

The Dagda’s chief abilities lie in his vast knowledge of and the ability to manipulate and shape the forces of magick. He possesses arcane knowledge and skills lost to many of the other members of the gods of Avalorr, including knowledge of the forbidden arts of necromancy. It was The Dagda who, at the behest of King Nuada Silverhand, closed off the dimension of Otherworld from the mortal realm to protect them from the danger posed by Rome.
